Known as “China’s No.1 tiger”, it developed from a tradition of using tigers as totems (图腾) during the Shang and Zhou periods. The Lihou Tiger is produced in Licheng, Shanxi. According to studies, the toy got its name because Licheng used to be the land of Lihou during the Shang and Zhou periods.
